Go Big Or Go Home. Or Maybe Not…

Kendra Cunov has a track record in helping businesses and leaders grow by deepening their personal relationships. She has consulted for leading companies such as Genentech.

She is an expert at helping leaders to build strong and deeply connected teams. She’s an expert in developing the communication and leadership skills of team leaders and team members.

Kendra was literally born at the San Francisco Zen Center and she spent much of her childhood living there.

She has spent over twenty years learning and teaching some of the most impactful personal growth work on the planet. She was one of the founders of Authentic World, where she even trained me, many years ago.

She’s the member of our community who I have featured on stage more than any other. I appreciate what she does so much, I even asked her to join my team.

She’s now my Chief Superhero Officer. (Yes, that is her real job title!)

Kendra is a force of nature—watch this:

And she hates the saying “Go Big or Go Home”.

I’ll let Kendra take things from here:

==========

I hate the saying “Go Big or Go Home”.

First off: I love my home!!!!

Why in the world would going home be some sort of punishment (for not ‘going big’ enough)?!?!?

Second: I find it offensive to imply that we need to be something (or someone) other than who we truly ARE in order to experience success.

I believe that each and every one of us (yes, that means YOU!) holds a space in the world that is not only OK – it is, in fact, Sacred.

So I reframed the saying to ‘Come Home to Go Big.’

I get it, though.

How many times have you heard: “Just Be Yourself” and wanted to scream?

“Be Yourself” is probably the most annoying and least helpful piece of advice…EVER.

So, what should you do?

First: Watch the video below, where I explore in depth my personal framework around: Come Home to Go Big

Second: Take on the practices I outline below.

If you do this even 2x/week for a month, I guarantee it will change your life.

(One caveat: You have to truly do this practice. No half-assing it.)

(Another caveat: It will change your life. And there’s no predicting how your life will change… You have to be willing to grow in the ways Life is asking you to grow.)

Lastly, don’t take MY word for it.

Try this on.

But rather than just thinking about it, or trying to decide if you agree or disagree, really sit with the feeling of Come Home to Go Big. Let it sink into you and wash over you like a warm, gentle rain.

Come back to who you truly are and be willing to fully express YOU, and from there I promise you will go exactly as big as you need to, as you want to and as you are meant to go.

Practices for Coming Home to Yourself

Home is your truth. Home is your desires.

I believe your deepest truth and desires are found in your body.

Come home to your body, and you will come home to yourself

1. Get quiet and still

The world is really f**king loud. You have to get quiet enough to hear your own inner voice. Especially when we’re searching or we feel confused, we think we have to keep ‘doing’ in order to become clear. But this is the most important time to get quiet and to get still.

Try sitting on your couch for 30 minutes.

That’s it, just sit there. No writing, reading or meditating.

Breathe.

Whenever you want to move, pause, and ask, are you

moving to get away from something, or to be more fully here?

2. Listen

Don’t dismiss things because they don’t make sense, or are counter to your business plan. Be willing to actually listen to yourself.

Read books, listen to experts, be willing to change your mind – but, in the end, trust your gut.

(Bonus: How to tell the difference between intuition or inner critic?

Your intuition isn’t mean. If you hear a mean voice inside you – judging or berating you; telling you you’re not worthy – that’s not your intuition.

If that happens, pause and listen to something deeper.)

3. Write it Down

What do you want? What do you believe? What do you stand for?

Give your desires space, and be willing to claim what you believe, without apology.

(Bonus: You are allowed to change your mind!)
