If you’re the most interesting person in the room... you’re in the wrong room.
1 Insight - coaching for high-level leaders becoming high-level coaches. Because a single insight can change EVERYTHING...
I have coached some of the most successful and talented people on the planet – from billion dollar business owners to former Navy Seals. I wrote a book for coaches that has sold over 50,000 copies, by word of mouth. And I'm the founder of a community of extraordinary top performers, called 4PC. Ultra-successful people are the ones who call me. My clients include Olympic athletes, Presidential candidates, Hollywood film directors, Special Forces operatives and serial entrepreneurs.
I see what most people cannot see – and I dare to say what most people would not say. And each week on this podcast, I will be challenging the thinking of high performers – from leaders in the corporate world, to successful entrepreneurs, to military veterans to high level coaches.
1 INSIGHT... because a single insight can change everything
Episode 9: The Prosperous Coach 2.0
I wrote The Prosperous Coach, with my friend Steve Chandler, almost 8 years ago—and it has stood the test of time. It has been in the top 20 books about coaching on Amazon ever since it was published. It’s sold over 75,000 copies and it continues to sell 1,000 copies a month. In fact, just last month, we had our highest number of sales ever.
Now, we wrote that book 8 years ago and much has changed in the world in that time. We wrote The Prosperous Coach to be a timeless book but that doesn't mean that we can't add new ideas and distinctions. In this short episode, I share some of my very latest thinking—in what I call Prosperous Coach 2.0.
Episode 8: How to take a scientific approach to becoming world-class
I’m a scientist by training. I have a joint degree in Biology and Economics. And that background in biology meant that I spent hours and hours of the early part of my life studying, researching and experimenting in a laboratory.
The Latin root of the word “laboratory” literally means to work. The word “experiment” comes from the Latin, meaning to try and to risk. The word “research” comes from Latin, meaning “to wander hither and thither.”
So, what we call science literally means hard work, taking risks and not really knowing where you’re going!
Today, I'll teach you 5 steps to being world-class...
Episode 7: I can help you see the invisible...
I’m an expert in high-level, complex coaching skills. And I’m an expert in coaching high-level leaders. When you watch me coach, you see me soaring on invisible gusts of wind. I’m an expert in creating something from nothing. A book that's sold 75,000 copies. A program that can create a million dollars worth of value in a year. An article that’s read by 20,000 people. A video that’s watched by 100,000 people. A community of high-level leaders.
But what you don’t see, when you observe my successes, is that I’ve spent over 10 years writing every day. What you don’t see is that I’ve spent 15 years creating – and much of it was never read, never watched, or never purchased. What you don’t see is that I’ve spent over 30 years studying and practicing leadership and coaching skills.
Once you’re successful, you get to soar on invisible currents. People talk about you. You build a word-of-mouth business.
Today, I am going to teach you how to soar...
Episode 6: Stop trying to solve your clients' problems...
Around 1,800 years ago, the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius noted: "What stands in the way becomes the way."
Whatever problem you are facing right now has the seeds of its' solution within it.
To be a great coach do NOT try to solve your clients’ problems.
Instead help them to live into bigger challenges...
Episode 5: The worst night of my life. Ever.
This episode is about the worst night of my life. Ever.
And it happened just the other day.
Before bed, I took a medication, and for about half an hour everything was fine, as I tucked in the kids and read them a bedtime story. Then something began to change... I didn't feel good and I lay down next to Monique. I didn't want to worry her but after a few more minutes, something began to feel seriously wrong.
My vision was confused and then my arms and legs started to twitch and I couldn't stop them. I could no longer speak clearly. And then my face started making involuntary movements and twitching, too.
I was seriously scared. I asked Monique to call 911. And after that it got very blurry.
Episode 4: Three counterintuitive rules to being a great leader
My first leadership role was thrust upon me at 10 years old; when I was made School Captain of my primary school. I had no idea what leadership even meant. And I have been making mistakes as a leader, ever since!
What I’ve discovered—and I am going to teach you today—is that there are 3 key, counterintuitive rules to being a great leader:
1. The Reverse Golden Rule
2. The Diamond Rule
3. The Snowflake Rule
Episode 3: The formula for Exponential Success
Today, I am going to teach you a formula to turn huge dreams into reality:
1. Dream Big
2. Take Tiny Steps
3. Think Long Term
4. Success is an inside-out journey
5. Keep Going
6. Do the opposite
7. Seek an elite community
And I am going to share my insights from watching my wife, Monique DeBose create exponential success in her life as a performer. What most people don’t see, is that—like all successful people—Monique has faced roadblocks, challenges and criticism along her journey. It’s been hard. But the secret is that the biggest roadblocks, challenges and criticisms you’ll ever face are the ones on the inside...
Episode 2: I’ve spent my life playing Robin, looking for Batman
I was a fearful child. I’ve been a fearful man. And I’ve spent much of my life covering it up by doing all I can to look confident on the outside, whilst feeling deeply insecure on the inside. I’m afraid of not being liked, of running out of money, of dying before I see my kids grow up, of telling Monique what I really, really want, of aiming too high, of failing, of looking bad, of getting NOs…
But I have learned that FEAR IS A MASK FOR DESIRE. And when a client asks me to help them get rid of a fear, I’m far more interested to find out what they really, really want. Underneath fear is desire. It’s what their fear is holding them back from.
Today's episode is a reminder to hide nothing, to hold nothing back, to serve not please and to speak your truth—no matter what.
Episode 1: Where's your high pressure community?
Leadership is lonely. Often very lonely. It’s why I created 4PC. Selfishly. For me. So, I didn’t have to feel quite so alone. So, I could be surrounded by fascinating people. So, I could have people in my world who inspire me. 4PC is a high pressure environment. We’re surrounded by people who are where we want to be in at least one area of our life. We are each forced to compete higher than our skill level. In today's episode I am going to take you through 6 powerful tools that I recently taught to the coaches and leaders in my high pressure community.
